Week 5A: Defining Your Market

Armstrong Garden Centers and Myrtle Creeks Gardens are both in the business of selling gardens. However, from first impressions both have different types of target markets based on the look and feel of their websites. My first impression with Armstrong Garden Centers is more commercial, modern, technology-friendly, whereas Myrtle Creek's design was more vintage, local "mom & pop" shop style, and community focused.

I based my observation on Armstrong's more modern and business-like approach was due to the first thing I saw on the website. It has a flash banner with a sale promotion. The site is very modern with bright colors focusing on more of the products in the images. I would say the target market of Armstrong Garden Centers is women ranging from the mid-30s to late 40's with families. Their hobbies might include garden or home improvements due to buying a new home, in which Armstrong Garden Centers have provided tips and tricks within their website. Whereas, Myrtle Creek Garden is more focused on people coming for entertainment based on their website. They have information about their local community and upcoming events. I would say their target market is families with small children or couples that retired/empty nesters.
